Powering New York City: Watch GE’s feature video on how TransCanada’s natural-gas-fired Ravenswood Generating Station, Unit 40, Powers New York City.
If you are watching any high-profile NBC broadcasts, such as National Football League games, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Saturday Night Live, or the NBC News, you might catch a glimpse of the TransCanada logo featured in a commercial themed around the 1980’s classic film Back to the Future.
Part of the new installment of GE’s “Brilliant Machines” campaign, the ad is appearing nationally on NBC to highlight GE’s latest control system and combustion hardware currently at work at TransCanada’s Ravenswood Generating Station (PDF, 256 KB) in Queens, NY.
Last year, we replaced key turbine parts at Ravenswood with new components, made from advanced materials developed for GE jet engines, that are saving energy and lowering costs.
“The GE software and hardware upgrade has increased electricity output by five percent at TransCanada’s Ravenswood power plant in New York City, enough to power 10,000 New York households,” says GE in their story behind the “The Future Is Now” TV ad.
