The city of Houston was energized on a beautiful, sunny Texas weekend as thousands attended Houston Energy Day at Sam Houston Park on Saturday, Oct. 18.
For the fourth consecutive year, TransCanada Corporation was honored to sponsor and play a role in sharing their energy with Houston. The free, family-friendly festival celebrated and highlighted the importance of energy in our daily lives, featuring approximately 70 interactive exhibits and demonstrations that focused on advancements and innovations in the energy sector.
Energy Day provided an opportunity to engage, educate and train students in the fields of science, technology and mathematics (STEM), which are critical to energy development. As part of the event, more than 75 students were recognized for their achievements in STEM-related competitions.
Visitors to the TransCanada exhibit participated in the virtual game Zenergy, which emphasizes the various forms of energy necessary to power a whole city. Prizes and other giveaways were also part of the interactive TransCanada experience.
“We are proud of our participation in Houston Energy Day, and the opportunity to encourage youth to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics by introducing them to the subjects through an interactive learning experience about what we do at TransCanada — it’s fun and educational.”
— Dean Ferguson, senior vice-president and general manager for TransCanada’s U.S. Pipeline Operations.
