TransCanada donates $200,000 to support leadership development for Texas youth.
TransCanada is a strong supporter of the communities where we operate and where many of our employees work and live. In March, TransCanada donated $200,000 over a four-year period to the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation – supporting leadership development activities for the state’s future leaders.
The funds will support opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills, while attending the bi-annual Texas 4-H Congress, a five-day event where 4-Hers learn about the legislative process.
The TransCanada grant also will support One Day 4-H activities, where each year, on a designated day, 4-H members, parents, leaders and volunteers step out into their communities and perform community service activities as a thank you for more than a century of support to 4-H in Texas.
“This multi-year commitment of support being offered to the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program by TransCanada Corporation reflects (the company’s) appreciation for, and endorsement of, the continued efforts of the 105-year-old Texas 4-H movement that has helped develop thousands of young Texas leaders who have contributed to our state and our country,” said Jim Reeves, Executive Director, Texas 4-H Foundation.
“Both organizations share a sincere passion for building stronger family units and thriving communities within this state and are willing to invest in any effort that works toward accomplishing these goals.”
For TransCanada, the donation is another opportunity to invest in the communities where the company operates.
“We’re pleased to support these important programs that will provide the opportunity for Texas 4-H Club members to learn valuable growth and leadership development skills,” said Lee Hobbs, Senior Vice president and General Manager of TransCanada’s U.S. Pipelines operations in Houston.
“Supporting the communities where we live and work is a key priority for TransCanada, and we look forward to helping to develop these leaders of tomorrow.”
