Columbia Pipeline Group (CPG) hosted a Community Cleanup Day at Camp Sonrise Mountain in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, April 30 as part of National Safe Digging Month.
Individuals from around the region participated in the cleanup of debris and branches, as well as raking, mulching and general landscaping work in preparation for the summer season. The event also included a luncheon and an educational session on safe digging practices by Columbia representatives, which included distribution of literature on safe digging and tree-planting kits for the participants.
Nestled in picturesque hills and Yough Lake, Camp Sonrise Mountain attracts many events and activities throughout the year. 2016 marks the facility’s 50th anniversary.
CPG has a long history of safe and reliable natural gas transportation throughout Western Pennsylvania and works to strengthen the communities it serves, while also promoting the practice of safe digging. Anytime an individual plans to start a large or small project that requires digging, Columbia Pipeline Group encourages you to dial “811” in advance to allow utility companies to mark underground lines.
